Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi is one of the most influential Ayatollahs currently in Iran and he is a spiritual guide for many shi'a Muslims answered to a question with some ridiculous reasons, just read it:
Q: Why Islam is forbidden music and what's the philosophy behind of it?
A: Although music is popular and it makes it difficult that people to think logical and straight about it's harms but realistic people will search and find out the realities although it's popular so here some of the reasons why Islam is forbidden music:
1. The best and pleasing songs, has the most ill effect on nerves specially when weather is warm it gets worse!
2. Music categorically fits in drugs family because it has addiction and no one can deny it! So human can get addicted to anything! For instance, in a concert when human listen to music they will go numb and they are not in normal states so they can’t focus on anything else but music so we can conclude that it is addictive like Heroin! Actually people get the most enjoyment from music because they are in narcotization state like a drug addict.
3. From the medical perspective it has proven that one of the reasons behind unexpected death in our era is music because music enforces excitement and excitement means an instable neurological function so people who get bombard by music are under threshold of cardiac standstill or stroke.
My comment: It was one of the most foolish things that I have ever heard. In a second thought he is joking or kinda transferred magically, oh I am sorry, by Allah, to a stand-up comedian or something like that! but no way, he is serious! Well he is a Muslim scholar! one of a kind who Muslims follow him! so go figure where is the problem in Islam world. by the way, my answer to the question is, Islam didn't like to see people live happy because if they live happily they will start to question this non-sense Allah and Muhammad, so Ayatollahs like you, couldn't have business like this. Islam and you want misery for people, like what have you done to Iranian people so far, in a rich country like Iran, 90 percent are living under poverty threshold, so will you tell me what have happened to the money that Islamic regime have sold the Iranian rich natural resources during past 29 years?!
I am familiar with Ayatollah's misery (for people) philosophy so don't lie anymore!

Islam is an ideology and ideologies don’t take insult or offended. It is your strong belief system that gives you delusional perception of being right on topics that come close to the religion that you associate with. That strong belief transforms you to a blind follower.
Instead, I recommend give skepticism a little room in your mind, let it work and in the long run, you are the first person to benefit.

Fariborz Shamshiri... Dude, it is a well known fact that babies calm down when they are sung to vocally or through instrumental lullabyes. I'm sure you too remember how soothing mom's/ dad's lullabyes were when you were a kid. On the chance that you have children/ nephews/ etc... you have probably found yourself singing to them to calm them down or put them to sleep. Now take this idea and make it more grown up = music!
If you re-read what the ayathollah said, I am sure you will see SOME similarities with your own experiences - regardless of whether they had music or not.
The point is that - somehow - there is a connection with how we feel and what we listen to.
Don't tell me that you haven't got wood from hearing a girl with a sexy voice!
See what I mean?! There is some connection between sound and the feeligns it induces. If this is true, then there is the possibility of inducing many other reactions within a person using sound. The possibility that music/ certain stimulii can have negative effects on people cannot be ruled out completely.

Dude....there is a big difference between club music, erotic songs and soul music or any other kind of music. Not all songs turn people on! won't you agree?

i am a convert to islam, i used 2 hate islam jus like yyou, but now i would know, islam is a peaceful religion nd everything is for a reason. it is scientifically proved that music is bad for your mentallity and for your whole body,

this person is a total fool he does not know anything about islam and has come to critisize islam. have u ever visited iran? iran is one of the most peaceful countries in the world people move freely and feel free to do anything there is not any case of theft or sexually harrasment vice versa. islam is the religion which gives the solution to every problem and who are u to talk about iran sitting in any other country. if u go and ask iranis they would definitely say that they love their country because they are free and not a slave like her neighbouring countries. iran is the only country who has stood against evil (america) and we all support iran and will remain supporting.
there is not any case of theft or sexual herrasement? where have u been living?? seriously, just go to youtube and watch all the death penalties they place over ppl everyday, it has become a society norm to watch someone die because of sexual assualt. and ofcourse iranians would say they love theyre country we all love our countries regardless of what we go through!
and it is wrong to describe America as evil, evil is everywhere, it does not nessesarily have to be in one specific region or a certain nationality.
