Iranian professors are writing against plagiarism!

After turmoils in parliament over fake Oxford doctorate degree of new Iranian interior minster, Ali Kordan; on August 11, 2008 some Iranian professors started a weblog to exonerate themselves from academic plagiarism which is a common problem in Iranian academic system. Just take students from the top ranking Iranian universities to the end, copy & paste is common knowledge and unfortunately it's not just limited to undergraduate degrees, it's in all level of academic system, even Ph.D. programs.

Can you believe that if I tell you Ph.D. students copy theses and present as their own?! Well, it's not just about students though, professors are main cause of the problem. They don't care about research, they don't check theses, and even they don't check for accuracy of thesis! I wrote a little about sex schools before and I should stress again that for the sake of academic environment, get rid of professors who pass grades for student mistresses.

Professors! if you are sleeping with students, that's between you and her, it's not our business (which it should be against school policy and standards) but when you are giving best scores for your mistresses that's another story. By the way these stories have been happening in well known universities like Sharif and Tehran universities, it's not just a college in small city.

Iranian academic system has had these kinds of problems from a long time ago; it's not new to our academics, I am wondering what motivated bunch of professors to start such a blog?

Hopefully something woke them up!
