I have seen ladies in real life in Iran that would cover top of their body but everything else is just out there, something like the lady in above photo!
I know that compulsory Hijab (veil, burqa) is against people will thus against human rights, so it's not going to work as it hasn't been.

ReplyDeleteThe idea of human rights is relatively recent and its elements are debated even today, but some common ones thrown around are the right to dignity, speech, religion, privacy, education, etc. I have never heard of a right to dress as you please in public. And even if there was, who would get to define that? It would be very subjective.
In my opinion, the vehement opposition by the media and Western societies at large towards the hijab, burqa, etc. is misdirected. Such things have nothing to do with oppression or subjugation of women. I think that Western women are afraid, afraid that if such a practice spreads they will be forced to relinquish the power they have over men, that is their bodies. I also think that it makes them feel inadequate, the idea that there are women who don't have to rely on looks to get through life. Of course I'm a man, but those are my suspicions.
