Should United States engage with Iran?

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace brought together a panel with Ali Ansari, Roger Cohen and George Perkovich moderated by Karim Sadjadpour to discuss whether the United States should engage with Iran or not?

I noticed there is no change in Obama’s attitude and speeches towards Islamic republic even after human rights crisis in Iran and now that Hillary Clinton made it clear that US will go on with their old plan to engage with Iran, I understand it is their interest to do so but Iranian people have too much at stake and engagement with Islamic republic at the moment will be punch in a face of millions of Iranians.

Without a doubt it is a tough call because no one wants Islamic republic with nukes even most Iranians don’t want nuclear warheads or bombs and it is very important for world security too but on the flip side, any engagement with Ahamdinejad’s government will put down people’s effort for democracy that they fight for.
