I would call it 1979 Islamic revolution because back then all parties like different Islamist groups, communists and even liberals all agreed to leave leadership to mullahs, then later it was too late to take it back. Ayatollah Khomeini that once said “I don’t want power, I am a clergy” in fact chose to run the country himself with his close allies which at last, he preferred mullahs.
If Iran wasn’t in war with Iraq right after revolution, I would say that we could have seen many uprisings against Islamic regime. In fact I will go further and say Islamic regime wouldn’t survive without Iran-Iraq war. Iran-Iraq war gave mullahs a unique opportunity to carry on terrors and oppression of opposition groups which they were young revolutionaries of 1979.
Those young Iranians were mostly tortured and executed in prisons and mullahs did their best to cover it up and let me be honest with you, mullahs have been good at coving up their messes, but for awhile. Now educated young generation Iranians having up-to-date knowledge about mullahs’ past and present, don’t buy whatever mullahs wish to feed them.
